What Is a Scripture Declaration? (And What It Isn't)

If you have spent any time in the household of faith, you have heard someone speak of "declaring the Word." It is one of those phrases used constantly and defined rarely. Some who use it mean something deeply biblical, rooted in the character of a God who creates and covenants by speech. Others mean something closer to a motivational slogan with a verse fastened to the front of it as a warrant. The distinction is not academic. These two practices travel in opposite directions. One roots you further into what God has already said and settles your soul on ground you did not lay. The other, with the best intentions in the world, quietly relocates you to the centre of the universe and turns Scripture into an instrument for procuring outcomes.
